SuG - P!NK MASQUERADE
SuG! Where have you been all my life? How come I was not formally introduced to this band when they first started? Hip. Fun. Rockin'. A recipe for a good sound. It was not until I heard this song that I started to give modern J-rock bands a try again. Lately I've been pretty disappointed in the current scene as it becomes more and more bogged down with Gazette clones and Dir en grey knock-offs. However, this band changed my view, a pretty different sound with a splash of the generic stereotypical visual kei flavor. Who would have imagined inserting hip-hop riffs and choreographed moves to a beat of a rock tune would ever so spark a twinkle in my eye.
The PV starts off with a rather odd intro, starring a very effeminate man named KERWIN, who apparently speaks some pretty broken english. Hey he tried though I'll give him that. Apparently the background story of this PV is that, a mysterious group of thieves called Pink Masquerade (which obviously is SuG) are after a painting which I assume is worth a high price. The screen goes nuts and cuts off into the main scene with SuG inside a nightclub. If you look closely throughout the PV you can notice some of the band members have disguised themselves as customers to get ever so close to their prize. It's a typical clever robbery setting... but they execute it in an entertaining way.
